The following two articles relate to the same incident and were released on the same day. These articles refer to an incident in which Danny supposedly burned his hand and thigh. Other articles that were released this month refer to an incident in which Danny severely burned his leg and foot, was bed-ridden for 5 days, and filmed an episode of his TV show in a wheelchair. (April 18, 1964) The incident referred to in the April 18, 1964 article has been well-chronicled elsewhere, so I am not sure if the below incident was a different one or if the other incident was misunderstood by some reporter(s).

“Spaghetti Too Hot In ‘Kaye’s Kitchen’”

The Pittsburgh Press – Apr. 10, 1964

By: Glenn Sease

The old maxim says: Too many cooks spoil the broth.

A new maxim says: Too much hot spaghetti spoils the cook.

Comedian Danny Kaye can believe the new maxim.

Kaye, something of an amateur cook, was invited to his choreographer’s house in Hollywood for a supper party and he insisted on helping out in the kitchen.

He spilled a big plate of hot spaghetti on himself, burning his hand and thigh. The burn was severe enough to force him to miss tonight’s video-taping session of his television show.

Now under treatment by his doctor, Kaye doesn’t expect to tape his next show until Monday night.

“For the immediate future,” quipped Danny of the incident, “I plan to continue my cooking to preparing cold salad.”

He spilled a big plate of spaghetti on himself and was burned on his thigh and hand.
