“Danny Kaye: It’s Murder!”
The Bulletin – July 9, 1952
Danny Kaye played the first six and last five holes of Carnoustie championship course yesterday. In the visitor’s book he summed up the course in one word, “Murder”—with a giant exclamation mark.
Danny was partnered by former Scottish International J. R. Hosie against Walker Cup player J.C. Wilson and his pianist Sammy Praeger. “I loved every minute of it,” he declared, adding—“It’s a great course.”
He had four’s at the 16th and 17th but drove into the burn at the last hole.
Danny was on the tee by 8:45 a.m. and after 11 holes was driven back to Dundee by Jimmy Wilson to catch the 11:50 a.m. train to Newcastle. “I just had to play at Carnoustie,” he explained.
