[Lionel] Hampton revealed that he would leave for Hollywood in August to begin work on a picture with the star comedian Danny Kaye.

Hampton will have a good featured role which will be a credit to him as an artist, he told the AFRO. His drums and vibraharp will be used through the picture.

Kaye, now producing for Goldwyn, asked for Hampton in his new picture which will be ready for Fall release.

Speaking from the film capital, Kaye told the AFRO on Monday that “Hampton is my choice after an exhaustive search for an orchestra leader who would best fit into my picture.”

Hampton fans will recall that Kaye purchased the rights to Hamp’s famous “Hey Ba Ba Rebop” last Fall.

The ace comic will give a new twist to the lyrics of the novelty which was his theme song, Hampton said.
